A report this week from comScore (available here) announced that the number of smartphones users in the U.S. eclipsed 100M earlier this year. This amounts to almost 1/3 of the U.S. population and is rapidly approaching the 50% mark where half of all mobile users are using a smartphone. The report also notes that one of the fastest growing uses for smartphones is accessing the mobile web. While is doesn’t come as a surprise to us as we’ve been extolling the values of the mobile web ever since we found ourselves in a pinch a couple years ago, it is good to see that the adoption of mobile access to the web is continuing to accelerate.
